Finally, an all-girl band who set out to make soothing, melodic songs rather than ranting about their independence. Modern and crisp, this branch of Swedish music may be seeing more success in the UK. Let's hope it doesn't fall to pieces like their furniture...
Uplifting and dreamy, the song breaks into some very contemplative lyrics. "Do you really think I could rely on this new person I have become" speaks of some uncertainty in herself, maybe even vulnerability. This feeling is soon evaporated into a chorus of new found confidence in herself; "Now I know, what I'm thinking what I'm feeling / What I want my life to be". It just goes to show you don't have to be trashy to tell the world you've found yourself.
Driven by an assertive drum beat and light-hearted guitar, the main hook comes courtesy of a synth that sounds a bit like The Beatles' 'Here Comes The Sun'. A far cry from such in-your-face female acts like Girls Aloud and the straight-talking, hateful nature of Kate Nash. Those Dancing Days are more like a blend of New Young Pony Club and Nelly Furtado (in one of her more subtle, tender songs).
Spirit-lifting and fresh it may be, the song does let itself down towards the end. It tends to drone on into the realms of unexciting and lazy alternative music. Although their understated style makes up a big part of their appeal, a little bit of attitude wouldn't go amiss. Not too much though. It'll be a very bleak day when Those Dancing Days start ranting about the everyday things get to them.
