Cazals have recently released their new album 'What Of Our Future', so we thought it a good time to catch up with them for a quick chat.

What new bands do you like at the moment?
Martin (bass, producer): Late of The Pier sound promising. Hot Chip. That's about it... new bands aren't really my forte.
Daniel (guitar, manager): I'm not sure how new you mean but I think Vampire Weekend and MGMT are pretty good but fairly obvious choices. Im looking forward to the Late of The Pier album, I'm interested to hear Erol Alkans production on it, I've heard good things! Other than that I don't go out to gigs as most bands are pretty bad.

What is the best thing about being in a band?
M: Making music with your friends.
D: Getting to play music to people in places you never thought you be.

And the worst?
M: It can be immensely frustrating when things don't go exactly as you'd hoped.
D: People letting you down, when you're doing the one thing that you've always wanted to do, your vocation, and people promise something but fail to fulfill their promises. That's tough to take because it effects you very personally.

Who in the band would be most likely to win in a fight?
M: Me, because according to a machine in Sheffield, I have the hardest punch.
D: I'm not sure, I reckon Luca would be the bookies favourite but we've never had the chance to pit ourselves against each other.

You recently played at ZOO8, did you get to see the animals?
M: I saw a couple of monkeys and some lads from Essex.
D: Only a bit of road-kill on the motorway.

What is your favourite animal?
M: Shark.
D: Dog

What was it like supporting Daft Punk?
M: Like the coolest thing you can imagine but cooler.
D: You know that 'We're not worthy' bit on Waynes World where they bow to Alice Cooper, seems a bit cheesy when you watch it, but that is the exact feeling I had when I met Daft Punk knowing that we were sharing their stage, but obviously to keep up appearances I acted quite nonchalant.

Do you have any favourite Cazals songs?
M: No, I dislike them all equally.
D: The ones I wrote, which is most of them!

Who thought of the name Cazals?
M: Don't know. Maybe a French man a long time ago.
D: It was Luca's idea as far as I remember, we had a list of names and he suggested Cazals because Phil was selling the sunglasses at the time off his market stall.

You've described yourself as 'Tropical / Black Metal / Italian Pop' on myspace, do you think this sums up Cazals well?
M: Perfectly, don't you think?
D: I'm sure there's more that can be added but I think that covers the jist of it.

Are you pleased with your album, 'What Of Our Future'?
M: Very much so. Anyone who doesn't like it is wrong.
D: I wouldn't be answering any questions if I wasn't.
