Lightspeed Champion is probably better known as former Test Icicle Devonte Hynes - it's the project he'd been working on before the band took off, and now they've split, it's what he's gone back to. We asked him a few random questions.
We hear you've been recording a lot recently, what can we expect from it all?
Erm, a lot of unfinished songs, no just joking... it's alot more upbeaty, whilst loud but still pretty wholesome, kind of like Fleetwood Mac meets Slipknot, that may or may not be a joke, it's a summer record to scream and fall asleep to.
You've just gotten back from Detroit having recorded with Whirlwind Heat, how did it go?
Amazing, we're the new Fountains Of Wayne... erm, nah it was awesome, I love those guys, I didn't actually want to leave, should be heading back there some time this year to finish up the record, we were gonna do one song but ended up doing 7!! We're calling it Lightspeed Heat.. LOLZ!
Do you have anything scheduled for release?
Not at the moment, currently talking to some labels, but I have around 30 songs done!! So now it's just the LONG process of sorting a band out, we got some shows coming up.
Where does your style come from? Who are your fashion icons?
Erm, whatever I haven't blown my nose on. I try not to judge what I wear by other people..unless it's Paul Wall.
What have you got planned for the next few months?
Just hopefully playing my first shows with Lightspeed Champion, putting the band together, recording and watching the NBA finals!!
Finally, tell us something about yourself that not many people know.
I was nearly a pro soccer player!
