Tidal Wave: Coasting

Fiona + Madison are Coasting, band that came to our attention last October thanks to Friendship Bracelet and an unofficial Group Tightener showcase in New York. While most of the crew seem drawn to the surfy edge of their sound, or coo over their soft girl group harmonies, we love them because they can drum. The power of the tunes reminds of a lot of gnarry rock music, think Cold Pumas in Brighton or lifesaving duo Friendship. They have more in common with Portland slammers Explode in Colors than a "wet wave of sound" lets on. Following a successful tour of duty around South by South West they'll start writing more in 2010. For now, listen to the pulsing sounds on 'Hots for Teacher' or the pair going man-overboard crazy on eponymous track 'Coasting'.
