Escape the City: Harlem

We don't have enough money to go on Holiday so listening to 'Harlem' helps us two fold.
1)The poor guys had their summer holidays cancelled by label Matador to work on the follow up record to 2008's 'Free Drugs'. Instead of jetting to the beach the Austin trio were subjected to hours of doing things that I'm sure they hate like, playing music and hanging out. We sympathise.
2)“Hippies” is a hip shaking LP of summer pop that transports us to a world where rent is free, bills don't exist and flight prices haven't been hiked because of our friend Global Warming. Not as trend-apeingly Surfy as it could be but not straight out Middle of The Road garage rock either. Good combination.
Download 'Friendly Ghost' below. It's not about summer. We can't be bothered to talk about what it is about so tere's what they.
“Its called Friendly Ghost and according to most things we have read it is supposed to be about a ghost (I guess music blogs dont believe in metaphors but they do believe in ghosts...and vampire weekends ability to turn concepts of musical lineage on their heads) so no matter if it is about a ghost or a girl or an ice cream sandwich... whoop here it is!”
'Hippies' is out on Matador on April 6th.
