Super Vacations

Super Vacations are a five piece from Virginia who love writing 2 minute long jangle-psych hits. They also like rude cartoons, Cambodian jamming and the dreams of William Burroughs.

Damned - "Neat Neat Neat"

I love The Damned. I remember being blown away the first time I heard this song. It has such a great energy to it.

Book

"Our Band Could Be Your Life" by Michael Azerrad

The chapter about Black Flag gives some really interesting insight into the band and what was going on at that time in American punk/hc music. I am not a huge fan of Henry Rollins, but he was definitely dedicated to what he was doing.

"My Education" by William Burroughs

I found this book at a thrift store and read it during my travels around Spain. It is a collection of dreams that Burroughs had over several years. The book never really goes anywhere, but I love the descriptions and vibe of the book. At times it is whimsical and it times it is a dark and mysterious.

Record

"Cambodian Rocks" a compilation by Various Artists

image

This is a collection of Cambodian music during the Khmer Rouge era. It is very sad, as most of the musicians and artists were killed. A lot of the songs are really jamming..great bass and drum tones. Its a bit of a mix between karaoke and psyche music.

"1977" by Talking Heads

Perfect for dancing around your apartment.

"Rather Ripped" by SONIC YOUTH

image

I love the way this LP opens. Kim Gordon singing "You keep me coming home again" and then right into some guitar riffage. Its probably not their best LP, but it has a special place in my brain.

Artwork

A.H Mackmurdo

Lines and more lines and more lines. I think that I sub-consciously borrow elements of Mackmurdo's style in my own creations.

R. Crumb

image

An amazing artist. I love the colors and way that Crumb sees the world. Very playful and vibrant; while also being crude, rude, and full of attitude.

What we know

Our newest LP, THICKER MILK, is released on September 27th on Shdwply.

Something we don't

We will be touring the U.K/Europe in 2011...
