On Track: Railcars

If this is a train it's running off the tracks. A duo from San Francisco, Railcars make ferocious music where uncontrollable sounds bash together in a crazed attempt to make a melody and emotional lyrics pack a heavy punch. Sound familiar? Maybe it should Xiu Xiu fans. Aria C Jalali first came to our attention in 2008 when he paired up with Jamie Stewart to recapture the violent years of Xiu Xiu on Cities vs. Submarines. Since then he's released two records - the Cathedral With No Eyes 12" and a live tape of a Paris show - moved to LA and toured a lot. He still needs to tell you what speed to play the records at...

If you haven't had a listen before there isn't a better time than now. Railcars returns to Europe in 2010, playing 8 weeks on the continent from 14th January.
