Round The Twist: Ariel Pink

Ariel Pink continues to build his own myth with five minute pop odyssey 'Round and Round'. Already heralded as a 'second coming' thanks to his band's short time away, it's the first piece of work produced for new label 4AD. A move away from the previous 'Pink work, the single mixes schmaltzy disco with spoken word samples and crazy keys. A mid song breakdown, where somebody answers a telephone, jarrs with the pop crescendo that follows and the hook line Hold On! I'm Coming" sounds panicked, reassuring and a um, booty call all at once. Phew. It should be a legendary mess but we've just played it three times in the last half hour. It makes less sense than ever and it's great.

Round and Round' will be released on April 26th as a limited 7" and digital single.
