Not Wimps: Sea Lions

If Family Trees were far too whimsical in wishing to be on the sand then Sea Lions might be for you. Rather than whispering about summers spent kissing on the beach Adrain Pillad's vocals sprawl over a cheerful surf beat. He's like the guy or girl who desperately wants to say he likes you but um... probably won't.

While some of the songs might get washed out under reverb others retain the jangle and stamp that makes garage and surf rock so damn catchy. It's nice to hear a track from someone who wants to be Lou Reed as much as he would liketo roll in the sea with Brian Wilson.

In suitably schizophrenic style, they've been releasing split tapes with their bummed out brothers Handglops and an ubeat 7" on the Yay! label.
