Synth Scaffolding: Psychobuildings

Psychobuildings

Rejoice! It's somebody from Brooklyn who actually wants to keep it in the city. Psychobuildings - consisting of vocalist Peter LaBier, Silk Flowers man Peter Schuette and now Juan Pieczanski - make dark and moody pop that takes the industrial tones of late 70s Britain [Numan, Throbbing Gristle and hey why not, The Human League] and the bands that jangled it about all through the 80s [The Cure being the most obvious]. Transforming them into upbeat glitch-pop songs; dark keys and modulated bleeps form a scaffold for rich vocals, staccato moans pierce luscious noisescapes, and rising house beats make for the odd uplifting moment.

They released their debut record with art show producers and record 'All Hands Electric' late last year. Listen to 'Portrait' [download] and lead 7" track 'Birds of Prey' below.
