Not a Number: Tame Impala

Why remake The Prisoner? asks the Times in today's review of ITV's "reimagined" version. It was perfectly fine as it was, captured the 1960s disgust with governments trying to threaten our liberties and individuality, and with a Lew Grade working without a concrete plan, was the perfect maverick sitcom. So don't mess! Australian three piece Tame Impala cut-up the original 1967 version in this promo for new single "Solitude is Bliss". Using wah wah, reverb and describing themselves as "psychedelic hypno-groove melodic rock music" they trip back with Number 6 to the sounds of Radio Luxembourg and Radio London.
Maybe we should be asking why bands keep making 60s influenced pop? Or maybe we should enjoy a good pop song when we hear one.
[p.s did we mention the take-off- your-shirt-and-stare-at-strangers summer day....]
