The Bat Caves

The Vaselines make a comeback this autumn but it's kind of like they never went away. The boy-girl frissons that gave sexless C86 a good thrust lives on in a whole bunch of bands and fans, from K records to the dance floors of How Does it Feel to Be Loved club nights.

The Bat Caves, a four piece from Seattle capture some of that lust in their demos. "I'm Gone"'s lilting riff and call and answer might as well be a sneak peek at "Sex With an X". But then there's the rest of it. As the songs progress, their slacker influences creep in, there's a tropical flourish or two and we're thinking kegs not cardigans. Sex with um, Pavement then?
