“Tomorrow, Another Track”: The Knife

We're in it for the long haul. Every day until we've done them all there will be a run down of one track from The Knife "Tomorrow, In A Year" adding to this until there's a mass of word vomit you just don't want to read. Yeah, take that bitches, OPER.LA.DI.DA. Read all about the whole project, here.
Intro
EJ: Why didn't we start at the beginning?
SR: We did the "hit" first.
EJ: All I can hear at the moment is a lot of crackling. Are the speakers broken again?
SR: I'm really anticipating what's coming.
EJ: There's rustling.
SR: Maybe it's a rogue crisp packet...
EJ: Or a takeaway box. The Knife present the first ever Saturday Night Opera.
SR: With vocals from... Paddy McGuinness?
EJ: In all honesty, I'm not enjoying this but can hear how it would work on stage.
Epochs
EJ: Still rustling.
SR: There's a hum. It is making me shiver. I've read that listening to this is really ruining some people's days. I'm feeling pretty bleak right about now.
EJ: Is that somebody whistling over milkbottles.
SR: Synthy drone now aaaaand OPERA.
EJ: It is beautiful.
SR: Love how the distortion cuts up the vocals. I wasn't expecting any of the tracks to do that.
EJ: Sounds like the machine won out at the end.
Colouring of Pigeons
SR: Sounds like somebody is touching something hot. Repeatedly
EJ: Learn from your mistakes people. Man...
SR: They're doing it rhythmically though. I like the way that new instruments are joining in and building it up. And the wobble that accompanies it is typically knife. The whole thing could collapse at any minute.
EJ: We are currently at minute 2 of the 11 minutes so I guess it will continue for a bit longer.
SR: Instead we get vocals. And I like them. It's cool to have Karin back. I know the Fever Ray album was awesome but I like them together. The way they play off one another.
EJ: I think I prefer it when Olof sings actually.
SR: Hm
EJ: Don't agree?
SR: I've just never heard anyone say that. Are you sure it is him, anyway? This is a collaboration, after all. This one is with Mt.Sims
EJ: I'm surprised how collaborative it is. I didn't think it would sound like a Knife record at all. More like them doing some noises for opera singers. But there are bits that are unmistakably them. Then there is some opera singing! I think that's great.
SR: When they link up it's great. It's like they've taught these other singers their rhythms.
EJ: She is going for it! Properly going for it.
SR: They are resting now. We are at 8.44 and they are resting. Spooky drum time.
EJ: I assume there would be some kind of distracting performance or light show happening right now.
SR: Sounds climactic. The tension is rising...
EJ: Some kind of beast is approaching! It's a pigeon!
SR: I was attacked by a pigeon last week.
