10 for 2010: Trash Kit

This week we're bringing you our 10 for 2010; musicians set for tours and records in 2010 at one end and 2009's give-a-listen albums at the other.

Trash Kit are Rachel, Ros and Rachel. They release their debut LP on Upset The Rhythm in February on vinyl and CD. "They're releasing on CD???!!!!" we hear you cry. Yeah... well how else will their Mums listen in the car.

We've only heard 2 tracks from Trash Kit's forthcoming debut album and we're already super excited. Why? Because we've seen them live. More than once. Rachel, Rachel and Ros are some of the hardworking-est kickassest people we know playing music right now. In warpaint and boxing shorts, they're bringing the fight with their broken-cymbals; howls and stamps; claps and screams. They write messed up melodies like nobody we've heard in ages. They might be inspired by Marnie Stern, Raincoats and Y Pants but they take it one step further by shredding on a violin classicxcore style. Then, when you least expect it they go on tour with Ros [who probably won't tell you she was in Electrelane but she was and omg they were so great] for Ray Rumours. Yeh, they do 'pretty' songs, too. So what...

Released on Feb 14th the album, on Upset The Rhythm, was recorded last month.
