5 bands: Hinterland Festival

We're going to go out on a limb and say that Hinterland is the first festival of the uk 'festival season' [you know, the one where it rains all the bloody time and you want to stab posh kids in the face at bit because they've got hunter wellies and you've got some cheap rubbish ones from Poundstretcher]. Taking place in the centre of Glasgow this Saturday, 5 venues will be filled with pop music, rock music and fancy electronic music curated by the likes of Moshi Moshi, Ballers Social and Radio Magnetic. To save you from scurrying all over the place with absolutely no direction we've picked our five favourite bands. Here they are in no particular order.
1. Spectrals 7.45 - 8.15 Macsorleys [It's OK Not to be OK - Download]
Spectrals' woozy doo-wop influenced pop is second on the Moshi Moshi stage at Macsorleys. Catch Louis and the band before they drink too many tins and decide to go sing Diana Ross covers in a karaoke bar.

2. Mazes 6.30 - 7pm Mazes Macsorleys [Ghost of Tupac Shakur - Download]
Visiting Scotland before heading off on tour with So Cow, Manchester/London band Mazes may have a new drummer but they're still making the same driven pop songs. They're on after Spectrals and you'll have the chance to hear Silver Columns DJ in between. So no excuses.
3. Jeffrey Lewis 9.45 - 10.45 The Arches Dance Arch
We guess this is this Jeffrey Lewis

even though we heard a rumour he was now going to be called just plain Jeff. He'll play some nice clonky folk, maybe share a few comics and then scurry off to get down to some....
4. Cooly G 1.30am - 3am The Arches Dance Arch [Lovedub - Download]
No idea what this genre should be called but we're going to go with Funk-step because it sounds suitably silly. Smooth vocals over a two step kind of beat. There will be some strings, some synths and maybe some sexy dancefloor kissing. Hopefully not the Glasgow kind.

5. Mystery Jets 10 - 11pm The Arches Main Room
Who knows what the Mystery Jets will sound like now. Will they play the hits? Will they have good hair? Known for refreshing their image and sound with every record, there's only one way to find out. Yeah, by going to see them.
In Glasgow [or around] and want to go? Tickets cost £15 from http://www.etickets.to/buy/?e=4160. Wristbands are available to collect from 5pm and you've got to get in there by 9pm.
If none of those take your fancy here's the full line up with times. Cut it out and keep it or something.
