Nottingham: Spanky Van Dykes and Beach Hunks

The city, Nottingham. The pub, Spanky Van Dykes. The reason, it's erm, Thursday? From this Thursday 15th April 2010 there will be a new venue in Nottingham, bringing some of the city's best promoters together for new band nights, DJing, record fairs, clothes swaps, pub quizzes... all that usual stuff. The venue will host a grand opening party withDJ sets from Zombie Disco Squad, Obstacle One, Vivo and Charlie Victor, 3 Cheers, Harlot and Secret Diaries. There'll also be a 'Hall of Mirrors' , a Twisted Circus and a MAGICIAN. From Friday there's even more with Late of The Pier DJing and live performances from some of our favourites, Gold Panda, Dam Mantle and Seams, Look out for other stuff from Take Control, Secret Sundays, WAR, Children For Breakfast, Sexbeat and erm a revival of daytime TV favourite 'Watercolour Challenge'. You can win £50 a that one though, rather than spending that much on booze.

Our Pick of the Month is NWN & BEACH HUNKS presenting Xeno and Oaklander on Monday 19th April. Clanking keys and bleak electro sounds, supported by primal postpunk and the mysterious La La Lepus.
