Primavera Preview: Thursday

Monotonix

Just as the weather hits "bloody hot" here, Neu Magazine are taking their annual summer holiday to Barcelona. What are the chances. Anyway, this isn't just any old booze and birds holiday, oh no, we're off to Primavera Sound, camera in hand to bring back lots of exciting gossip from one of the year's best festivals. Seriously. It's great. You can go in the sea and everything. Before we go here's the bands to watch out for it you're off for some fun in the sun or if you're just a bit curious about what's going on.

Thursday 27th May

Monotonix Escenari Vice 19:00h

Will spain chill these nutters out? Butlin's sure didn't but after a couple of sangria's and a few rays... oh, who are we kidding. Monotonix are going play a crazy show, spiral out of control and possibly take a few holidaymakers with them.

The Books Escenari ATP 19:00h

If you've only just woken up and Monotonix feel to much why not start the festival the relaxing way. The Books preview their new album 'The Way Out' with a gorgeously glitchy set on the ATP stage.

The Fall Escenari San Miguel 20.10h

Presumably on this early because Mark E has a bedtime or wants to get his party on, The Fall play a selection from their new album "Your Future Our Clutter" and finish on some hits. Standard, but still bloody good.

Titus Andronicus Escenari Pitchfork 20:30h

Violent at times but with hearts of gold, Titus Andronicus are always worth a gander. Expect newies from recent album The Monitor, a few hits and lots of clever chat from frontman Patrick Stickles & co.

The Smith Westerns Escenari Pitchfork 21:45h

America's Sweethearts start their quest to conquer Europe on the Pitchfork Stage of Primavera sound. Expect swoonsome pop that will have every lady (and lad) in the house want to kiss them or cook them a nice meal.

Sleigh Bells Escenari Pitchfork 01:30h

Their UK shows were well received by some and slagged off by others so it'll be interesting to see how the duo tackle this one. A surprisingly late showing shouldn't dampen their sharp new album. Or haircuts.

Chrome Hoof Escenari Vice 02:15h

At UK festivals all you're getting at 2am who is pumping out incoherant electronica to the kids who were sexy enough to get drugs past the door police. In Spain there's a completely barmy experimental orchestra who genre-span like few other acts AND wear kick ass capes.

Delorean Escenari Pitchfork 02:45h

Or if you prefer your party to get tropical, try Delorean. Having released their third album 'Subiza' this year, the Basque boys will no doubt be riding a wave of euphoric samples and
try will try their best to make you jump on too.
