Alien Label: Italian Beach Babes

Italian Beach Babes is a cool label and distro run from Conan Roberts' flat in Dalston. In the last couple of years he's released and sold on records by Wild Nothing, Ale Mania, Beach Fossils, Primitive Hands, Silk Flowers and Beaters. We asked him to tell us some rad things about it and he did. The truth is out there.

I got into releasing records and distroing because....

There werent any record labels or people releasing the bands from England that I liked so decided to do it myself. I started the distro as there were so many good records coming out of America but cost a small fortune to either mail order or buy from shops here. I can get records direct from the labels, cut out the middle man and sell 'em on at a reasonable price.

I believe that...

We are all descended from an alien race

I hate that...

I have to pay rent

I love that...

I have so many friends who are in amazing bands and do amazing things

I would never release a record by a band if...

They didn't let bands they were playing with borrow equipment

But I'll always want to release a band's record if...

They have a copy of Blink 182 'Dude Ranch' in their record collection

The easiest decision I've had to make is....

To always get another beer
